A family craft

One workshop, one family’s hands.

Since 1987 our workshop has been in a historic han near the Grand Bazaar. Everything in the catalogue, from trays to candelabras, is made here; today the family’s second generation runs it.

How a piece is made

  1. Filing the flash off a raw casting

    Brass

The body is brass; silver or gold is only on the surface.

  2. Hammered body with a gold leaf detail

    Shaping

The brass body is shaped by casting and turning.

  3. Hand polishing after plating

    Plating

The surface is plated in silver or gold; the bronze tone comes from patina.

  4. Hand-finished ram’s head detail

    Finished by hand

Patterns are worked by hand; every piece is checked and packed in protective packaging.

The master and the team

“Finishing a tray takes two days. If we rush, the brass shows it straight away.”

Casting, filing and polishing are done by the same small team. Every piece passes through the master’s hands before it is packed.
