The right size for a wedding cake stand
The stand should be slightly larger than the base of the cake. Which cakes suit 35, 40, 45 and 60 cm stands?
When choosing a cake stand, measure the bottom tier of the cake and make sure the plate of the stand is a few centimetres wider all round. This protects the edges when the cake is moved and leaves room for decoration.
By diameter
- 35 cm. For single-tier cakes or a 25–30 cm base.
- 40 cm. For two-tier cakes with a 30–35 cm base.
- 45 cm. For three-tier cakes.
- 60 cm. For large wedding cakes and displays with flowers around the base.
